Summertime is AWESOME at the BGC!

Excerpt from our July 2022 Newsletter.

We're five weeks into Summer Programming and it has been a whirlwind of fun and engaging activities and events with our members and program staff. Our themed, weekly programming continues to be a hit, using awesome ideas like Space, Harry Potter, Super-Heroes, Colors and Robots to create meaningful programming that helps our members learn, engage, and grow. Summer programming is critical to helping members stay physically and mentally active. The more engaged our members are, the more prepared they become for the new school year and the responsibilities and challenges that life throws at them.

Club programs include Outdoor Adventures, like tackling the Climbing Wall at Adams State, Paddle Boarding at Blanca Vista Park, and Rollerskating at the Alamosa Family Rec Center. Some of our members will also visit the Sand Dunes and explore the mountain ranges surrounding the San Luis Valley. Our programming helps to build confidence, refine motor skills, and impart lessons in teamwork, cooperation, and leadership, all of which are blended into activities that support creative and critical thinking skills.

We've also celebrated our Colorado Youth of the Year, Amaya Garcia White-Buffalo, taken part in the SLV Youth Celebrate Diversity Conference, provided job skills training to RISE Grant student participants, and continue to provide programming at our No Limit Teen Center and site locations in Antonito, Blanca/Ft. Garland, and Center. All that, and we're not even half-way done with Summer!

With weeks of summer programming still to come, we'll continue to keep our members active and engaged in Summer Programming, including; Red, White & Blue Week, Disney Week, Sports Week, and our End-of-Summer WaterFest!
